Maxwell Wright

Mr. Wright joined the Law Offices of Justin E. Sterling in 2013. He is a criminal defense lawyer whose practice focuses on pretrial investigations in addition to representing clients accused of misdemeanor and felony offenses.

Mr. Wright graduated cum laude from Loyola Law School where he was the Staff Editor for the Loyola Law Review. On an academic level, Mr. Wright maintained scholastic excellence and distinction. He is a current member of the Order of the Coif, which is an honorary scholastic society, the purpose of which is to encourage excellence in legal education by fostering a spirit of careful study. It recognizes those who as law students attained a high grade of scholarship and honors those who as lawyers, judges, and teachers attained distinction for their scholarly and professional accomplishments.

Mr. Wright worked for the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where he assisted in the defense of clients accused of serious and violent offenses. In this capacity he drafted complex legal motions, conducted legal research, as well as assisted lead counsel in all stages of criminal proceedings. Mr. Wright also worked as a certified law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. There, he gained valuable experience coordinating witnesses and conducting preliminary hearings while honing his sharp negotiation and examination skills. Having worked for both the prosecution and the defense gives Mr. Wright unique insight into the strategies and practices of this adversarial system.

Sterling, Mr. Wright worked for a highly-regarded and prominent Los Angeles civil law firm. Mr. Wright’s civil repertoire is applied to the selective civil rights and police misconduct cases our firm takes on.

Mr. Wright is admitted to practice in all state courts in California. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Wright was born and raised in Los Angeles.
